MANILA, Philippines – GLOBAL and Pachanga Diliman hacked out narrow victories Tuesday night to go level on points with leader Loyola Meralco in the United Football League at Emperador Stadium.
Getting a lift from substitute Milad Behgandom, Global rallied from a goal down to nip Pasargad, 3-1, for its second victory in three matches.
Pachanga, buoyed by Nate Burkey’s second half strike, edged defending champion Stallion, 1-0, to also hike its tally to six points. Burkey scored on a tamed effort in the 77th minute that inexplicably rolled past Stallion goalkeeper Pedro Marenco.
But Stallion had a legitimate shout for a penalty denied in stoppage time when OJ Clarino was brought down inside the box by Reza Amirkhizan.
