MANILA, Philippines — Banco de Oro manhandled Cebuana Lhuillier, 93-75, in a battle of also-rans Thursday in the 2014 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Glenn Khobuntin produced 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs, who dominated the Gems all throughout, off the bench.
NU, which only made use of 11 players, pulled away for good in the payoff period and pushed the lead to as big as 21 points, 88-67, on a lucky triple by Khobuntin.
Jethroy Rosario added 18 points, Bobby Ray Parks 17, and Cedric Labing-isa 10 for the Bulldogs.
“I’m pleased with our game. The players are playing hard even with a depleted team. I think we’re getting what we came here for,” said Banco de Oro coach Eric Altamirano.
The Bulldogs to 3-8 with two assignments left in the conference while the Gems fell to 5-7.
After a big win 76-68 upset win over Cagayan Valley last Tuesday, Cebuana Lhuillier just couldn’t get the rhythm and got beat in the boards, 41-35.
Paul Zamar had a game-best 24 points, knocking down five triples for the Gems while back-up guard Roi Sumang added 15 points.
