Saints sneak on sweep

MANILA, Philippines — St. Clare unleashed the full brunt of its firepower to destroy Philippine School of Business Administration, 91-74, Friday and move to within a win of a clean sweep in the National Capital Region Athletics Association men’s basketball at RTU Gym.

With their starting five all turning in double-digit outputs, the Saints were hardly in trouble in repeating over their first-round victims and posting win No. 11.

The Saints, hoping to qualify to the Philippine Champions League later in the year, will take on La Salle-Dasmariñas on Tuesday in a bid to score a rare 12-game sweep of the eliminations and secure a slot in the finals.

The Jaguars fell to 2-9.

“We played according to plan and the boys executed the plays very well,” said St. Clare coach Jinno Manansala.

Big man Jayson Ibay topscored with 23 points, while wingman Marte Gil added 14. Dennis Santos and Darwin Lunor chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Jaguars leaned on Aries Dionisio who scored 28 points.
