MANILA, Philippines — Impressive in his last One Fighting Championship outing, Kevin Belingon faces another big test in his quest for a bantamweight title shot when he tangles with Korean Kim Dae-hwan on March 14 in Kuala Lumpur.
Belingon of Team Lakay and Kim will clash in the co-main event of the OneFC: War of Nations promotion with the Baguio-trained fighter seeking a big follow-up to his knockout victory over Spaniard David Aranda Santacana last month.
Known in MMA circles as “The Silencer,” Belingon, 26, owns a fight record of 12-3-0 punctuated by that explosive first-round KO of Santacana at MOA Arena.
The brawler Kim consistently puts Fight of the Night performances. Undefeated in nine pro bouts, he had a successful OneFC debut last December, winning by submission over Australian grappler Thanh Vu.
Belingon nearly earned a crack at the title held by Bibiano Fernandes of Brazil early last year following successive victories over Thanh Vu and Yusup Saadulaev only to get waylaid by a decision loss Masakatsu Ueda.
