UFL: Sparks tangle with Archers, seek 4th win

MANILA, Philippines – Loyola Meralco tries to extend its unbeaten start to four matches when it takes on winless Green Archers Tuesday night in the United Football League at Emperador Stadium.

The star-studded Sparks are fancied to prevail in the 5:15 p.m. clash with the Archers who have managed just three straight draws to start the season.

Kaya, fresh off a 7-1 demolition of Team Soccerroo, battles defending champion Stallion in the 7:30 p.m. match.

Stallion is also looking for its first win of the season after coming up with just two draws in its first three matches.

The reigning champion side fell, 1-0, to Pachanga last week, then was held to a stalemate by Soccerroo. Kaya has two wins in three matches.

The Sparks are riding high on their fine form early in the season with Phil Younghusband and Fred Gonzalez providing firepower.

Younghusband and Simon Greatwich scored two goals each in Loyola’s 4-0 whipping of Pasargad last Satuday.

The Archers drew with Army, 2-2, last Thursday in a game where they led by two goals heading into the last four minutes of regulation.
