MANILA, Philippines — University of the Philippines and National University earned tough wins Wednesday in the UAAP season 76 men’s volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.

League-leader NU faced a tough-match up in Adamson and needed four sets, 25-21, 24-26, 25-15, 25-17, to put the Falcons away.

Reuben Inaudito had a team-best 18 points, including five blocks, for the Bulldogs who dominated at the net with 19 total blocks against Adamson’s six.

Peter Torres and Reyson Fuentes chipped in 15 and 12 points, respectively for NU, which hiked its record to 9-1.

UP, meanwhile, seemed headed to a rout but ran into a spirited fightback from University of the East in the third set for a 25-16, 25-16, 32-30 win.

Jeffrey Lansangan and Julius Raymundo paced the Maroons, who kept their hopes alive with the win, with 15 markers apiece while Frederick Abuda added 13.
