MANILA, Philippines –National University blanked Ateneo, 1-0, as the Bulldogs dashed the Blue Eagles’ title-retention bid in UAAP Season 76 men’s football at Far Eastern U-Diliman pitch Thursday.
Skipper Paolo Salenga scored his sixth goal of the season in the 33rd minute for the Bulldogs, who occupy sixth place after notching their second win (10 points).
Ateneo needed to sweep its last three games and hoped that fourth-running University of Santo Tomas drop theirs to make it to the Final Four.
NU also shone in the softball competition after snapping De La Salle U’s five-match winning streak while Ateneo shut out Adamson to keep second spot.
NU bested La Salle, 4-2, for its third victory in seven starts.
On the other hand, Ateneo scored a 12-0 win over Adamson to improve to 5-2.
