Race to the future is on
MANILA, Philippines – The race to the future is on and getting there can be fun.
This is how organizers of the Eco-marathon this Saturday envision the annual event that will be staged on the centennial anniversary of oil firm Shell at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta.
Article continues after this advertisement“There is no machine more powerful than something that brings us to the future,” said Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez during the flag ceremony for the teams.
Simon Henry, Chief Financial Officer of Shell, said that the Eco-marathon may host the people who could create the future, and not just be a venue for a race.
“The people who may create the future are here,” Henry said. “As you go, you should also learn from each other.”
Article continues after this advertisementStaying true to his department’s slogan, “It’s more fun in the Philippines,” Jimenez said that the participants should also have fun, the Philippine way.
“As you race, take the fun of the Philippines with you to the future,” Jimenez said.
The Shell Eco-marathon was held previously in Malaysia.
