Pacquiao to Mayweather: My line is open 24/7

MANILA, Philippines — It may take just one phone call for the highly-anticipated megafight to finally happen, or so world boxing icon Manny Pacquiao says.

Pacquiao said in an interview with ESPN’s Keith Olbermann that his line was open anytime to receive Floyd Mayweather’s call if he would ever commit to fighting him.

“I want that fight, but it’s up to him. What I can say now is that our line is open 24 hours, seven days a week if he will call and say ‘yes’ then the fight will be on,” the Filipino boxer said.

Even in the midst of the two-city press tour in the United States for his rematch against Timothy Bradley, Pacquiao couldn’t escape questions about his nemesis.

When asked by Olbermann whether he thought Mayweather didn’t want the fight, Pacquiao answered “That’s what I believe.”

“Thousands and millions of fans are waiting for that fight,” Pacquiao also said.

“I’ve been asked many questions on when that fight will happen and I told them I’m willing to fight him anytime, the problem is he makes many reasons and alibis.”

Since 2009, efforts to make the two best boxers of the generation meet on the ring have been in vain as negotiations have always bogged down.
