MANILA, Philippines — Four Filipino triathletes get to hone their skills in Portugal to boost their chances of making it to the Youth Olympic Games slated Aug. 16 to 28 in China.
Triathlon Association of the Philippines president Tom Carrasco said Jimuel Patillan, Justin Chiongbian, Magali Echauz and Vicky Deldio will gun for YOG slots in June in Kazakhstan.
The triathletes aged 17 years old and below will undergo a 35-day training in the International Triathlete Union Development 23-under and junior camp.
“This is an opportunity for them to learn from the best in the world and train with their counterparts around the world,” said Carrasco, also the Philippine Olympic Committee chair.
ITU coach Sergio Santos will oversee the camp, which will cost the Philippine Sports Commission P1.5 million, starting in April.
