STI, Informatics fives clobber Naascu foes
MANILA—STI rested chief gunner Maclean Sabellina early in the game but hardly felt his absence in a 97-45 rout of Trace College in the Naascu basketball tournament at the UM Gym in Sampaloc, Manila.
Coach Vic Ycasiano decided to rest Sabellina who hurt his eyes during a rebound scuffle in the second quarter, but veteran wingmen Jerald Baustista and Lester Bocablo picked up the slack for STI, last year’s losing finalist.
Later in the day, Mark Angelo Montuano scattered 33 points, while Jiovani Jalolon added 20 as Informatics routed St. Clare, 93-75, to join STI at second place with 7-2 cards.
