Go Teng Kok, Jolly Gomez peace meeting up

MANILA, Philippines— Athletics chief Go Teng Kok and Philippine Sports Commissioner Jolly Gomez have agreed to meet personally and settle their differences that erupted after the agency stopped the release of salary of two national coaches accused of favoritism and negligence.

Sources privy to the verbal tussle that has played out to the media said they will meet either on Saturday or Monday to try and patch up the quarrel after the PSC dropped mentors Joseph Sy and Roselyn Hamero from the government payroll.

Both coaches, who Gomez said favor tracksters from their own mother schools and falsify records to disqualify certain athletes from the national pool, each receive P20,000 monthly allowance from the agency.

Gomez also accused Hamero and Sy, long-time coaches of the national team, of being remiss of their duties to the national team by spending more time in Manila instead of overseeing training in Baguio City.

Hamero and Sy are reportedly coaching also in Far Eastern University and College of St. Benilde.
