MANILA, Philippines — Not even a stunning win could provide a silver lining on the kind of season University of Santo Tomas had.

“Forgettable. Disappointing,” said UST head coach Odjie Mamon, summing it all up, after his team upset Adamson in four sets Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After missing out on the Final Four for the second straight year, the Golden Tigresses had only hoped to end its campaign at least on a winning note.

And they did following a 25-23, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15, win – a result that may cost the Lady Falcons a slot in the semifinals.

With the win, UST chalked up just its fifth win against nine losses in the season, taking a step back from an 8-6 finish in last season where it just missed the semis.

The Tigresses though, could look forward to a better season next year with an intact lineup led by Carmela Tunay, Pam Lastimosa and Loren Lantin, who, according to Mamon will likely be back to play his final year of eligibility.

Mamon also said that UST would be going on a “revamp” with possible recruits looking to build up the squad – led by girls MVP Ennajie Laure.

Laure, whom Mamon said would be the Tigresses’ guest player in the coming Season 11 of the Shakey’s V-League, anchored the Junior Tigresses to its first girls crown since the 2009-10 season when college standouts Alyssa Valdez and Kim Fajardo led the team.

“There’s a 99% [chance] that we’ll be joining Season 11 of V-League,” said Mamon.
