MANILA, Philippines — Philippine chef de mission Richie Garcia has set a deadline for aspiring Filipino athletes to the 17th Asian Games.
“They have six months to prove to us that they deserve a slot in the team,” said the Philippine Sports Commission chair.
The Asiad will be held Sept. 19 to Oct. 4 in Incheon, South Korea.
“For athletes who are not yet in the list of prospects, those who did not win medals in the last SEA Games and those with no records with us, they have until Aug. 15 to qualify,” said Garcia.
The Philippines brought home three gold medals, four silvers and nine bronzes from the Guangzhou Asiad four years ago.
