NCAA: JRU kicks off ‘four-peat’ bid with long jump gold, bronze

MANILA, Philippines — Jose Rizal University got off to a solid start in its four-peat bid on Thursday after ruling the long jump event in the NCAA season 89 athletics championships at the La Salle-Dasmariñas oval.

The Heavy Bomber got their first gold from Domingo Cabradilla who registered a 6.89 meters leap in the long jump finals, matching his effort in the preliminaries.

Perpetual Help’s Patrick Faderogao also tallied 6.89 meters but for silver due to wind velocity, while fellow Heavy Bomber Mark Harry Diones took home bronze medal with 6.86 meters.

JRU is banking on the field events to continue its domination in the remaining sport for this season.

San Sebastian’s Rolando Uberas, meanwhile, reigned in the pole vault event with 3.70 meters to edge teammate Raian Espada and Letran’s Jeffrey Fajiculay, who both went home with silver medals for an identical 3.50 meter-finish.

The Knights’ Rouelo Cordova went home with the bronze after recording 3.40 meters.

In the juniors’ finals, San Sebastian’s John Resty Lorezno bagged the gold medal in long jump with 6.77 meters, Emilio Aguinaldo College’s Ryan Ornales with the silver with 6.64 meters, and Arellano’s Billy Endrina with 6.41 meters.
