Ex-FEU setter Jessie Lopez makes surprise wedding proposal

MANILA, Philippines —Another wedding proposal went down at the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum, this time before the UAAP season 76 volleyball double-header on Saturday.

Jessie Lopez popped the question to girlfriend Khristine Infante before cheers from thousands of spectators and players from the UAAP men’s volleyball finalists, who were waiting for the opener to commence.

Lopez, who was bearing a bouquet of flowers  got down on one knee and slipped the engagement ring on the finger of the teary-eyed Infante.

Lopez is a former setter for Far Eastern University in the UAAP and is now part of the Bulldogs’ men’s volleyball team coaching staff.

During the second round of elimination in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament last year, a pair also got engaged after an elaborate proposal at the lower box section of the Big Dome.

One of the most popular proposals at Araneta Coliseum was that of former Ginebra player Vince Hizon and then Patricia Bermudez during halftime of a PBA game in 2002.
