Marvel puts ‘super’ mask on LeBron

MANILA, Philippines—He’s been called King, L-Train, a pseudo wrestling champion, and arguably the best basketball player of his era, but he is no superhero.

Or so we thought.

After putting on a comic-book-worthy performance of 61 points, his career-high, LeBron James can put “superhero” on his impressive resume.

Marvel Entertainment, through artist Greg Land, designed a superhero-esque mask for the four-time National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player befitting James’ career performance.

Posted on its official Twitter account on Wednesday morning, Marvel said that the mask was in “honor of last night’s super heroics.”

Drew in Marvel’s comic-book style, James wore a Captain America mask with a large white “A” emblazoned in front with a blue background and the Star Spangled Banner’s red-and-white stripes on the sides.

Together with his 61-point outburst, which was the most in Heat franchise history, James also tied his career-high in three-pointers made with eight.

On Jan. 22, James had his childhood dream fulfilled after Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson gave him a World Wrestling Entertainment Championship replica belt.
