Asian EC, Pugo Adventure dominate Corporate Cup golf

BAGUIO—With no challenger managing to match its strides, Asian Energysystems Corp. cruised to victory in Division I while Pugo Adventure duplicated that easy win in the seniors class yesterday at the close of the 26th Corporate Cup at Camp John Hay Golf Club.

Asian Energysystems wound up with a 291 total after a 142. Pro-bound Jikjik Abdon paced the new champion with 56 Molave points on a two-under-par 67.

Nico Sevilla and Ryan Abdon counted with 48 each. Jun Fernandez’s 39 was disregarded in the four-to-play, three-to-count format of the event co-presented by Ayala Land Premiere and Megafiber.

Team Forest Lodge, last year’s champion, was second this time with a 278 total as Jayson Yu (51), Thirdy Escano (47) and Shean Bedi (45) combined for 143.

Behind the 55 of Goody Ignacio, the 51 of Fred Puckett and 50 of Ed Montenegro, Pugo Adventure assembled 156 for 314 to win by 14 strokes over title favorite Megafiber, which had a 154 for 300.

Mari Hechanova, a member of the Canlubang squad in the PAL Interclub Seniors, paced Megafiber with 55. He was backed by Albert MG Garcia’s 51 and Rene Unson’s 48. Ben Jacinto’s 45 did not count.

Team Nueva Ecija was third with 287 after a 136. Former Gov. Tomas Joson III had 49 while Joel San Vicente and Arnold Duay added 44 and 43, respectively.

Camp John Hay (296) captured the Division II crown over Friday Business Club 1 (276) and Rural Bankers 1 (270).  KT Glass (266) reigned supreme in Division III over AMSI-Shakey’s Calamba (261) and Starflex Wires & Cables 1 (255).

Nassau (245) nipped Baguio Centermall 1 (225) and JW Promotions (225) in Division IV and Isabela Golf Club (233) won the Division V title over sister teams ABGC 1 (209) and ABGC 2 (208).
