UST’s Francisco joins US program
MANILA, Philippines — Genevieve “Gina” Francisco, a long-time assistant for the UST men’s basketball team and the national women’s squad, has been selected by the US State Department to join the Basketball Sports Visitors Program from March 17 to April 1 in Washington D.C. and Miami, Florida.
Philippine Sports Commission executive director Guillermo Iroy Jr. said Francisco will be assisting 16 young athletes in the program.
A former skipper for the Tigresses, Francisco’s family also served UST in various capacity with her mother representing the university in the UAAP Board for decades and her brother Gerald also starring for the Tigers.
Francisco’s father, Ben, was an Olympian in basketball and volleyball, playing for the 1954 Philippine team that finished third in the World Basketball Championship.
