Anton sets lap record in big start to 2014 circuit season
MANILA, Philippines — Carlos Anton kicked off his 2014 campaign with a record-breaking race in the first leg of the Circuit Showdown at Batangas Racing Circuit recently.
Anton, the reigning Philippine Touring Car champion, clocked 1 minute and 44.325 seconds to break his old record (1:44.788) by almost half a second aboard his Mark Young-Hornitex prepared CRX.
“The team prepared the car well and Jeff [de Leon] of Forcespeed helped us get the right set up with the suspension and brakes which I think made the difference,” Anton said after the race. “With God’s grace, we hope to reset all our records this year.”
