UFL: Stallion blanks Army; PAF, UIM up

MANILA, Philippines — Rebounding from a shocking loss the last time out, defending champion Stallion Gilligan’s dumped Philippine Army-GTI, 2-0, Sunday night at Emperador Stadium in Taguig City.

Facing a side that fell 1-9 to Global only last Thursday, Stallion needed a strong second half to collect maximum points and move three points off third-ranked Kaya, which has 21.

Ruben Doctora broke the deadlock in the 61st minute before Milan Arends wrapped up the win with a stoppage-time goal for Stallion, which took a 3-4 loss to Socceroo last Thursday.

Army remained in fifth spot with 13 points. In sec ond division play, Air Force and Union Internacional Manila posted important wins to keep their hop es of p romotion alive.

Ian Araneta scored twice as the Airmen scored a comfortable 3-0 win over Agila, while Ivan Meilan lifted Union past Nomads, 1-0.

The victory pushed PAF to third with 18 points, two behind Manila Jeepney and five behind leaders Ceres-La Salle.
