Hartmann, Global fire 9 past Socceroo

MANILA, Philippines–Mark Hartmann sustained his incredible scoring run, knocking in four goals as Global demolished Team Socceroo, 9-0, Thursday night at Emperador Stadium in Taguig City.

Hartmann jacked up his tally to a tournament-leading 18 goals this season as Global repeated the same scoreline as in their first round win over last season’s second division champions.

Earlier, Kaya snapped a three-match winless streak with a 2-0 win over Philippine Army-General Trias to keep third spot.

Kenshiro Daniels and Janrick Soriano were on target for David Perkovic’s side which moved three points clear of Stallion with 24 points.

Three of Hartmann’s four goals were a thing of beauty with the last turning out to be the most impressive. Positioned outside the box on a corner kick, Hartmann smashed the ball with a thunderous volley.

“The volley … that’s as good as you can see in a league anywhere,” said Global coach Leigh Manson.

With 31 points from 13 matches, Global cut Loyola’s lead to just a point.
