Yakult 10-miler blasts off

MANILA, Philippines –The 25th Yakult 10-Miler, the country’s pioneer 16-kilometer race, fires off Sunday at Cultural Center Complex grounds in Pasay City with some 2,500 runners participating.

The 16K runners will answer the starting gun at Vicente Sotto St. corner Magdalena Jalandoni St. at 5:30 a.m. The 5K run follows at 5:40 a.m. and the 3K event at 5:55 a.m.

Kenyans placed 1-2-3 in last year’s edition with cruling in 51 minutes and 30 seconds.

Far Eastern University’s Jennysmyl  Mabunga relegated 2012 women’s champion  Irine Kipchumba, also from Kenya, to second place with a time of 1:03:14.
