PAF batters nip Throwbacks, share lead with RTU

MANILA, Philippines — Romy Bumagat drove home the winning run in the bottom of the extra inning as Philippine Air Force nipped Throwbacks, 2-1, Wednesday for a second straight win in the PSC Commissioners’ Cup baseball championship at Rizal Memorial Baseball Park.

With two outs and runners in scoring positions, the veteran slugger sent Aries Oruga’s second pitch to far right to break the 1-1 tie and lift   the Airmen to a share of the lead with idle Rizal Technological U.

PAF scored first in the fourth but Throwbacks, a team composed of former UAAP stars, tied the score in the eighth.

Isidro Abello, who had earlier singled, scored the winning run in 10th and sent the Throwbacks to their first loss in two games.

University of the Philippines chalked up its  second win in three games after downing Batangas State University, 8-4.

The Maroons scored heavily in the last three frames to overcome the Red Blades’ 3-2 lead in the first six innings. BSU fell to 0-2.

Adamson scored its first win in three starts when it downed National University, 11-5, in the third game.

The Falcons delivered six runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth against the Bulldogs who tumbled to their second defeat.
