MANILA, Philippines — The Head 2014 Junior Satellite Circuit national tennis annual age-group tournament, now on its 16th year, will start Monday in Davao City to discover potential talents all over the country.
Liza Tang-Yuquico, managing director of Head Philippines, is expecting more than a hundred participants per leg in the event sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association.
The 70-day tennis competition, backed by Head and Chris Sports, the nationwide sports retail chain, in cooperation with other sports brand patrons will run until June 7 across key cities in Mindanao, Visayas and Luzon.
Head Tennis has produced valuable names in junior tennis like Raphael Teng, Marcen Angelo Gonzales, Jerome Romualdez, Maria Dominique Ong, and Blanche Lagrisiola and vows to continue to be part of tennis full grassroots development.
According to Chris Sports Marketing Manager Arleen Lindo, the Mindanao leg starts in Davao City tomorrow up to April 4, followed by the second leg in General Santos on April 6 to 10; and in Cagayan De Oro City on April 12 to 16.
The Visayas leg begins in Iloilo on April 21 to 24; followed by the Bacolod City leg on April 26-30; Dumaguete on May 2 to 6 and at Consolacion Cebu on May 8 to 12 for the last leg.
Baguio City will be the first stop for Luzon leg beginning May 14 to 18, followed by Olongapo City leg on May 20-24; San Pablo City leg on May 26 to 30 and the Manila leg, in June.
