MANILA, Philippines — Big Chill banked on a second quarter scoring binge to beat Cagayan Valley, 72-66, in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Superchargers went on a 16-0 run in the pivotal second quarter and never lost control.
Rodney Brondial’s double-double of 12 points and 16 rebounds led the way for Big Chill, which improved to 2-0.
“I thought Rodney [Brondial] did a good job when Cagayan was making a run. He supplied the points and made some crucial rebounds to keep us going,” said Big Chill coach Robert Sison of his starting center.
Andrian Celada, a former Cagayan Valley slotman, also had 12 points for the Superchargers.
Lord Casajeros scored 15 for the Rising Suns, who suffered their second straight loss.
