Rain or Shine parades new import, rips Globalport
MANILA, Philippines — Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao said his team dealt with bumps early but it didn’t take long for the Elasto Painters to get out of harm’s way Monday.
Rain or Shine leaned on a big second quarter en route to an easy 99-75 win over a sinking Globalport side in the 2014 PLDT Home Tvolution PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

But the second quarter was a whole different story for ROS, which paraded a new import in Wayne Chism.
The Painters outscored the Batang Pier, 22-12, in the pivotal second period to lead, 51-38, at the half that paved the way for a blowout and their third win in six games.

“It’s a good way to break in our import. He had two quick fouls and we had to sit him out for one whole quarter but he learns fast and it’s a matter of learning the game, how it’s played here and how the refs call a foul,” said Guiao.
“Once he makes the adjustment, I think he’s going to get better,” added Guiao, who also praised his import’s quickness and athleticism.”
Paul Lee scored 21 points built on five triples while rookie Raymond Almazan notched 13 points and 12 rebounds for Rain or Shine.
“The locals responded. They know our import can take care of himself so I think that gives them a lot of confidence on themselves also. It has a big effect when you get the right time of import,” said Guiao.
Import Evan Brock had 25 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks for Globalport, which couldn’t keep itself from sliding as its losing skid hits seven.
The Batang Pier stayed within step early but their struggling offense allowed the Painters to pull away. They shot just 34.6% from the field and missed 11 attempts at the line and were also out-rebounded, 43-66.
