Air Force nine bombs UST; La Salle breaks ice

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Air Force scored seven runs in the first three innings on the way to an 11-3 flogging of University of Santo Tomas Tuesday and stormed to the solo lead in the PSC Commissioners’ Cup at Rizal Memorial ballpark.

The Airmen got busy right in the first frame with two runs on two hits, two stolen bases and two bases on balls to post their fourth victory in as many matches.

The defeat was the Tigers’ second straight for a 2-2 record.

Earlier, La Salle exploded with seven hits for six runs in the seventh inning and scored its first win with a 9-1 rout of Adamson.

In the morning game, Dragons, made up of 18-under members of International Little League Association of Manila (Illam), whipped University of the Philippines, 11-1, for their first win in two matches.

The Maroons fell to 2-3. Air Force pounced on the enemy’s sloppy pitching in the second inning as five men got on board on walks with three eventually scoring off a series of UST catching errors.

Jerome Bacarisas fired a run-scoring triple and Edmer del Socorro singled home Bacarisas for a 7-1 Air Force edge.
