PBA Greats, Stalwarts battle to a 136-all tie

MANILA, Philippines—The PBA Stalwarts and PBA Greats fought to a 136-all tie in a meeting of old and new stars of the league Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.

A triple from Ronjay Buenafe in the winding seconds forged the deadlock to cap an entertaining night for the fans as part of the 2014 PBA All-Star Weekend festivities.

Great’s Rey Guevarra, the newly-minted co-Slam Dunk champion, led all scorers with 34 points including a number of rim-rattlers. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the match.

FEATURED STORIES

Cliff Hodge added 29, Willie Milller 18, and Jonas Villanueva 17 for the Greats while retired players Johnedel Cardel and Freddie Abuda combined for 23 points.

Mark Cardona, meanwhile, wound up with 31 points for the Stalwarts, who was backed by former PBA stars like Noli Locsin, Bogs Ardonado and Jeffrey Cariaso.

Buenafe chipped in 22 points for the PBA Stalwarts while Melton had 21.
