Arellano nears Group A sweep with drubbing of St. Louis

MANILA, Philippines – Already assured of a quarterfinals slot, Arellano showed no signs of letup following a trouble-free 25-13, 25-9, 25-13 win over provincial team St. Louis in the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 First Conference Tuesday at the Arena in San Juan.

CJ Rosario led the way for the unbeaten Lady Chiefs with 15 points built on 11 hits and four blocks.

Arellano, which tops Group A in the standings with a 4-0 record after wins over Southwestern University, UAAP champion Ateneo and NCAA rival St. Benilde, shoots for a sweep against Adamson on Thursday.

An undefeated start though, is still not enough for Arellano coach Obet Javier.

“I’m still not contented with how we played today. We can’t afford to play this way against Adamson,” Javier said in Filipino.

Lanky spiker Danna Henson added 10 points for the Lady Chiefs, who also pounced on the Lady Navigators’ 21 errors.

Roxanne Almonte paced St. Louis, which dropped to 1-1, with measly eight points on 37 attempts.
