Debuting Parks lifts NLEX; Hog’s Breath scores

MANILA, Philippines — Two-time UAAP MVP Ray Parks got off to a solid debut as the depleted NLEX squad still proved too much for Cafe France, 88-67, Tuesday to stay unbeaten in four games in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at Meralco Gym.

Parks, who missed the Road Warriors’ first three games due to school commitments, scattered 15 points to back up the strong games of Ronald Pascual and Garvo Lanete.

“I thought it was a total team effort on both ends; [Parks] also gave us a lift,” said NLEX deputy Mon Celis after the Road Warriors posted the rout despite the absence of head coach Boyet Fernandez and five players.

In the second game, Joseph Terso knocked in a triple with 23 seconds left to lift Hog’s Breath Cafe past Boracay Rum, 99-95, in overtime.

Meanwhile, the league slapped Big Chill a P150,000 fine for staging a partial walkout in its 75-95 loss to Blackwater Sports last Monday.

Fernandez, who also mentors San Beda in the NCAA, left for Lithuania for training along with Ola Adeogun, Baser Amer, Art dela Cruz, Kyle Pascual and Ryusei Koga, the five Red Lions who also play for NLEX.
