Malayan, 2 other fives take openers

MANILA, Philippines — Malayan High School, King’s Montessori School and Escuela de Saphia of Caloocan won their opening matches Tuesday at the start of the 2014 Summer League Inter-Secondary Basketball Tournament at Dapitan Sports Complex in Manila.

Malayan repulsed Universito of Santo Tomas, 75-60, King’s Montessori crushed Ernesto Rondon HS, 84-59, and EDSC waylaid St. Vincent Schoool, 73-61, in the tournament organized by the Manila Inter-Commercial Athletic Association, presented by Fusion Marketing in partnership with the City of Manila and Manila Sports Council and supported by AUB, PNB and Emperador.

Masco vice chair Roberto Norbi, representing council chair Philip Cezar, made the ceremonial toss.
