MANILA, Philippines – He may be the star of the show but he is set to take a pay cut and his in-ring opponent is expected to get a raise.
Manny Pacquiao is set to take a pay cut on his impending rematch against Timothy Bradley, but he is still guaranteed with the bigger cake.
According to Dan Rafael of ESPN, Pacquiao is guaranteed a minimum of $20 million on his rematch with Bradley for the World Boxing Organization World Welterweight Championship on Sunday at the MGM Grand.
Official purses that the Nevada State Athletic Commission filed for both fighters are $6 million which Pacquiao and Bradley would claim on fight night.
Top Rank boss Bob Arum told the international sports website that Pacquiao would receive the remaining pay from the guaranteed $20 million weeks after he claims his fight night check.
Pacquiao, on his first match against Bradley, received $26 million while his American opponent made a humble $5 million.
According to Arum, both fighters would earn more depending on the pay-per-view buys, which he believes would exceed one million.
Pacquiao-Bradley I in 2012 raked in 890 ppv buys and $50 million in revenue.
