LAS VEGAS—When Timothy Bradley won by a controversial split decision over Manny Pacquiao two years ago, he thought it was the start of a glorious reign as world champion.

To the contrary, it was a rude awakening.

During a mini press conference at MGM Grand Arena on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila), Bradley said his life in Palm Springs, California, became so miserable that he contemplated committing suicide at one point.

Phone calls, death threats, insults were hurled against him and, worse, he said he became the laughing stock of the media, forcing him to shun reading and watching television.

“One of the darkest periods (in my life), no doubt,” Bradley said.

He said only the support of his wife Monica and his family kept him from resorting to drastic actions. He eventually got over the nightmare when he returned to the ring and survived Ruslan Provodnikov and then outgunned Juan Manuel Marquez in succession.

The lack of recognition he got as WBO welterweight titlist had prompted him to dangle the 147-pound title against its former owner.

According to Bradley, mobility is key to victory this time.

“Move constantly to find angles and room to punch,” said Bradley, who expects Pacquiao to come out very aggressive.

He said Pacquiao hasn’t lost a step but now lacks the old fire and motivation.

“Maybe this is one fight that’s too late for him,” Bradley said. “It’s my time, it’s my moment.  Saturday (Sunday in Manila) I’ll take care of business.”
