MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward and WNBA legend Tina Thompson are set to visit Manila after the Holy Week for the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA festivities, the NBA announced on Friday.
Gordon and Thompson will provide assistance in the National Training Camp, the last stop of the 2014 Jr. NBA and JR. WNBA Philippines presented by Alaska, from April 25 to 27 at the PICC Forum and Mall of Asia Arena Concert Grounds.
Hayward, the ninth overall pick by the Jazz in the 2010 NBA Draft, and Thomspon, the four-time WNBA champion and one of the best of all time, will be part of the staff who will train the participants and will coach in the second Jr. NBA Alumni All-Star Game.
Top 50 boys and 24 girls, who were chosen from the regional selection camps held all over the Philippines in the last few months, have a chance to impress the coaches and compete against their peers in the National Training Camp.
Ten deserving boys and five girls will be named into the All-Star team which will be treated to an extraordinary NBA experience later in the year. Coaches of the year will also be picked.
