Puyat in joint 8th

MARCEL PUYAT opened with a three-under-par 69 for joint eighth place in the 2010 US Junior Amateur Championship at the Egypt Valley Country Club in Michigan, Monday.

Puyat, eighth in last week’s Junior World in San Diego, shot a 33 in the backside on four birdies and a bogey on the par-5 No. 13.

The top member of the ICTSI golf team stood just two strokes behind Jordan Spieth, Stephen Behr and Davis Womble heading into the last round of the stroke play eliminations.

But Dottie Ardina faced the specter of missing the cut after stumbling to an 80 in the US Girls Junior Championship at the Country Club in North Carolina. She lay 13 shots off the pace.
