Qatar boots out PH in quarterfinals of Asian Men’s Volley Club Championship

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines’ PLDT Home Tvolution Power Pinoys got the boot after dropping a 17-25, 14-25, 21-25 decision to Qatar’s Al-Rayyan Monday in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Asian Men’s Volleyball Club Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Qataris, last year’s losing finalist, proved to be too much for the Filipinos as they remained unbeaten in the tournament after sweeping Pool B.

With the loss, the Power Pinoys hope to rebound in the classification phase. But it won’t be easy for PH in the consolation pool as it battles Iraq’s South Gas sports Club, the same team that blanked the Filipinos in the eliminations, at 12 noon Tuesday for fifth place.

The Power Pinoys made it to the knockout quarters after beating Mongolia in straight-sets.
