Ginebra’s new import Freeman arrives, makes PBA return vs ROS
MANILA, Philippines — Gabe Freeman, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s third import in the on-going 2014 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, arrived in the country early Wednesday morning in a report posted on the league’s official website.
The former two-time Best Import Freeman looks to breathe life into the Kings’ struggling campaign so far wherein they struggled to clinch a quarterfinals spot with a 3-5 record.
Article continues after this advertisementGinebra tapped the services of Freeman after erstwhile import Josh Powell got a call-up from the Houston Rockets in the NBA.
The former Los Angeles Laker Powell, who replaced Ginebra’s first import Leon Rodgers, played for only two games in the PBA with the Kings going 1-1 with him in tow.
Freeman will make his return to the PBA against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Sunday in both teams’ final game in the elimination round.
Article continues after this advertisementThe 28-year-old Freeman played for the Barako Bull Energy in his previous stint in the PBA two years ago after steering the San Miguel Beermen to the 2009 Fiesta Conference championship.
The six-foot-five workhorse Freeman also led the Philippine Patriots to the title in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) in 2010.
