Power Pinays smash India in Asian Women’s Club volleyball opener
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines-PLDT squad got off to a great start in the 2014 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship Nakhon Pahtom, Thailand on Thursday.
The Power Pinays opened its campaign in Pool B with a smashing 25-17, 26-24, 25-16 win over KSEB of India at the Nakhonpathom Municipality Gymnasium.
It was a good boost for the Filipino volleybelles, who are also bracketed with seven-time champion China, last year’s finalist Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei and Singapore.
The Power Pinays have been in Thailand since April 1 as part of their build-up for the tournament.
Meanwhile, Taipei clobbered Singapore, 25-8, 25-7, 25-6, in the other match.
The Power Pinoys on Wednesday salvaged seventh place in the men’s edition of the club volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.
