MANILA, Philippines — Boracay Rum outworked Big Chill in the fourth quarter to win 76-70 in the 2014 PBA D-League Foundation Cup Monday at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
The Waves had six players with at least seven points led by Rudy Lingganay’s 14 points.
“The last game we didn’t move the ball well. Today, I thought we executed well, we contained Big Chill’s shooters and defended well against their bigs,” said Boracay Rum assistant coach Bert Flores in Filipino, who called the shots in the absence of head coach Lawrence Chongson.
The Waves, now at 3-2, bounced back from a 95-99 loss to Hog’s Breath in overtime nearly two weeks ago.
Boracay Rum took the lead for good 63-59 after a Prince Caperal basket and a Roider Cabrera triple with still 6:21 remaining.
“This is a big win for us. The team standings is so tight. Hopefully we could build on this,” Flores added.
Raymund Ilagan had 13 while Cabrera, coming off-the-bench, added 12 and Chris Banchero collected 10 points and six assists for Boracay.
