MANILA, Philippines—Defending champion Blackwater Sports ran away in the third quarter to beat Hog’s Breath 89-74 in the 2014 PBA D-League Foundation Cup Tuesday at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

Reil Cervantes topscored with 23 points for the Elite, who outscored the Razorbacks 31-12 in the pivotal third period to lead 69-51 entering the final frame.

Blackwater sustained their form in the fourth quarter with Allan Mangahas and Cervantes anchoring their strong finishing kick.

“We’d like to take advantage of this three close wins,” said Blackwater coach Leo Isaac. “We are setting our sights of once again making it to the finals.”

Hog’s Breath kept it close until the second half where Blackwater established its game – switching its offense into high gear as the Razorbacks just couldn’t keep up.

Gilbert Bulawan added 14 points and 12 rebounds as he dominated the Razorbacks’ thin frontline.

Kevin Racal had 18 points for Hog’s Breath while Rey Publico chipped in 11 points for eight rebounds.
