Anton snags AAP award

MANILA, Philippines — Champion driver Carlos Anton bagged the top driver award presented by the Automobile Association of the Philippines at its 18th annual awards night during the Manila International Auto Show recently.

Anton, the Castrol-Yokohama ace who has won the top driver award as Hill Climb Racing champion for the last six years, decided to go back to circuit racing this year after he was tapped by Ethanworx-Woks Bell Japan to compete in Division 1 of the Philippine Touring Car Championship.

“I feel so blessed to receive this award,” said Anton. “It has been six years since I raced in touring cars and it’s good to know we are still competitive.”

Anton dominated the series this season, snatching pole in all 12 races and eventually winning eight. He has won national titles in eight different racing categories over the last 25 years.
