Faldo Series PH qualifier Monday

MANILA, Philippines — The Faldo Series Asia will start its new season at Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Cavite when the Faldo Series Philippines Championship tees off on April 28 to 30 at the course the legendary golfer designed.

The new  hopefuls will all try to qualify and possibly emulate the success of Pauline Del Rosario and Princess Mary Superal, who completed a Filipino 1-2 in the Girls’ division at the 2014 Faldo Series Asia Grand Final.

“I enjoyed watching the duel between Pauline and Princess at our Asia Grand Final in March, it was a fitting testament to how far golf in the Philippines has come,” said Sir Nick Faldo.

“We look forward to returning to the Faldo Course at Eagle Ridge for the seventh edition of our Philippines Championship.”

Golfers aged 12 to 21 will compete over 54 holes for a place in the ninth Faldo Series Asia Grand Final, to be hosted by Sir Nick Faldo in March 2015.

With the mixed field divided into five age categories—three for boys and two for girls—the winner in each category will qualify for the World Amateur Golf Ranking event.

Established in 1996, 40 Faldo Series tournaments now take place in 30 countries worldwide with more than 7,000 golfers participating each year.

Past winners include Major champions Rory McIlroy and Yani Tseng.
