Jackes’ double victory lifts local Kart Master Drakar in ROK Cup

MANILA, Philippines — Reigning Asian Karting Mini-ROK champion Flynn Jackes emerged the lone young ace to rule two  races recently in the kickoff of the 2014 Petron Blaze 100 ROK Cup Karting Super Series at Carmona Racetrack.

Struggling in the Qualifying and Prefinal heats, the 11-year-old Jackes gave the best he got to outsmart equally tough rivals and capture both the Mini-ROK XCS and KF Junior Restricted Blaze 100 crowns.

The feat provided a successful fresh start for Jackes, who spearheads the local  affiliate of Team Kart Master Drakar of Singapore, together with William Casequin and Bobby Redpath, who likewise delivered laurels for the team.

Casequin clinched the Formula SL Novice Xtra plum while Redpath claimed fourth place in the Mini-ROK XCS and fifth place in the KF Junior Restricted Blaze 100.

Jackes started fourth in the grid after posting a lap time of 50.137 seconds in the Time Trials,  but moved up to third in the Prefinals.

Jackes’ energy never waned as he fared better with a runner-up finish in the Final race and was eventually declared champion after Dylan Arambulo was stripped of the win due to technical infraction.

Jackes was in total command of the KF Junior Restricted Blaze 100 where he swept both the Qualifying heat and the Final Race.
