At the skating rink in SM Southmall, where Martinez once practiced as a young boy, children who dream of becoming like him can also hone their skills.
In trying to help future Michael Martinezes, SM Lifestyle Entertainment Inc. is now providing facilities and programs for aspiring athletes who want to develop their skating talents in SM Mall of Asia (MOA), SM Southmall and SM Megamall.
For only P300 on weekdays and P390 during weekends and holidays, one can avail of the open or unlimited skating service offered at both SM MOA and SM Megamall and learn different skating moves or have fun with friends by enrolling into one of the Freestyle skating courses for four and six sessions available in the three SM branches.
Martinez, whose credentials include a stint in the 2013 World Junior Championship and a gold in the Triglav Trophy International Figure Skating Competition in Jesenice, Slovenia, may not have brought home a medal from the Sochi Olympics but he has put his country on the map of international figure skating and has paved the way for others like him to dream of becoming a world champion one day.
