MANILA, Philippines — Hog’s Breath Cafe breathed life into its flatlining playoff hopes with an 85-72 upset of Cebuana Lhuillier in the 2014 PBA D-League Foundation Cup Tuesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Razorbacks snapped their two-game skid and notch just their second win seven games behind JP Belencion’s 21 points.

“We still have a slim chance to make the playoffs,” said Hog’s Breath coach Mike Buendia. “I told the guys let’s grab the opportunity because it won’t be given to us. I’m pleased with the way the guys responded.”

Hog’s Breath took a 43-40 lead at halftime before it came out firing in the third quarter where it padded on to its lead as the Gems never recovered and trailed by as much as 24 points.

Cebuana Lhuillier got 16 points from Bambam Gamalinda and 13 from Ken Acibar. The loss halted the Gems’ three-game winning run as slid into a tie in second place with the Jumbo Plastic Giants at 5-2.

Kevin Racal and Jamil Gabawan produce 14 and 11 points, respectively.
