MANILA, Philippines — Three-time Tour champion Mark Galedo is a cinch to ride for the Philippines in the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
Philippine chef de mission Richie Garcia Tuesday mentioned Galedo as one of four Filipino cyclists who will race in the road event of the Asiad set Sept. 19 to Oct. 4.
Other riders being considered are Ronald Oranza, second runner-up in the 2013 Ronda Pilipinas, George Oconer and 2012 Le Tour champion Baler Ravina.
Oconer is the son of 1992 Barcelona Olympian Norberto Oconer. Garcia said these cyclists could jack up the number of Filipino athletes from 27 sports to 137 whom the Asiad task force will accredit in today’s deadline for accreditation.
“We will work around this figure when we decide on the final size of the delegation,” said Garcia.
