Ola Adeogun dropped 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Art dela Cruz had a double-double of 18 points and 12 boards for the Red Lions, who cruised to double-digit leads as many as 23 points, 65-42, in the final quarter.
“I saw how they (Nationals) nearly beat FEU in a game that was theirs to win,” said San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez. “I told my team that we cannot underestimate them.”
Perpetual Help and Jose Rizal University spoiled the debut of two Visayas teams in a pair of routs in the other seniors matches at Filoil Flying V Arena.
The Altas hacked out an 83-61 triumph over University of Visayas, the reigning Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) champion, behind Earl Thompson, Juneric Baloria and Justine Allano.
Jaycee Asuncion, meanwhile, led the Bombers past University of San Carlos, 78-61.
