7-game bill opens Naascu caging

San Sebastian College-Recoletos of Cavite starts its “three-peat” bid against last year’s runner-up University of Manila in one of five games kicking off the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (Naascu) senior basketball tournament today in two venues at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

The Baycats take on the Hawks at 12 noon, kicking off the schedule at the Rizal Coliseum.

University of Makati battles Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasay at 1:30 p.m., Our Lady of Fatima takes on Informatics at 3 p.m., while the OLFU juniors clashes with the SSC-R juniors at 4:30 p.m.

Over at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, 2006 titlist AMA Computer and New Era kick off a triple bill.

“We are very pleased to stage our 10th season with a league that is even bigger with 12 teams that are balanced in strength,” said Naascu president Dr. Ernesto Jay Adalem.

Gov. Oscar Moreno, chair of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, will deliver the keynote speech, while former Philippine Sports Commission chair Harry Angping will be the guest speaker.

Naascu vice president Dr. Ernesto delos Santos will introduce Regina “Gina” Lopez of ABS-CBN Foundation, who will be the inspirational speaker.
