MANILA, Philippines — Four slots to the ICTSI-Philippine Open are at stake in an 18-hole qualifying event the National Golf Association of the Philippines will hold on Monday at the composite Mount Malarayat layout in Lipa City.
Licensed pros and amateurs with handicap indices of 3 or better can take this chance to compete in Asia’s oldest national championship presented by the MVP Sports Foundation and PLDT.
The Open, a $300,000 event of the Asian Tour, tees off Thursday next week at the East course of Wack Wack in Mandaluyong with Mardan Mamat of Singapore trying to win it for the second straight time.
Fees for the qualifying are P2,500 for the local players and P3,000 for the foreigners.
The NGAP gave two of its outright slots to national amateur champ Rupert Zaragosa and fellow national team member Justin Quiban.
Antonio Lascuña, now No. 10 in the Asian Tour Order of Merit, is expected to lead the local charge in the Open proper along with Angelo Que and the promising Miguel Tabuena.
